A veterinarian talks about immune support and pets

Steve Sanderlin, DVM, is a veterinarian with holistic animal training. Dr. Sanderlin practices in Boulder County, Colorado, and attended veterinary school at Texas A&M. Dr. Sanderlin will answer questions about use of Del-Immune V® in animals, and can be contacted at SSandvm@aol.com

I’ve observed that with many animal health issues, there is an underlying compromised and depressed or low immune system. After being introduced to Del-immune V, I started recommending it for pets to provide immune support in conjunction with targeted treatment of many health issues. My clinical observation was that the product provided immediate immune support during all types of animal health issues, whether the condition was fungal, bacterial or viral.

In broad terms, we see a faster recovery rate with health issues when an animal’s immune system is supported with Del-Immune V. Another important characteristic I have observed is that this product modulates and balances rather than over-stimulating the immune system. This is important for animals with hyper-sensitivities. There are variables, but I have also seen the product help balance an over-active immune system.

Del-Immune V is ideal for immune support with many treatment protocols I recommend, and I have never observed side-effects from the product. I use it to support the immune system adjunctively during treatments including; cancer, ear and eye infections, respiratory tract infections and skin conditions to name a few. The product is cost effective and gives a big return for a small investment in a pet’s health.

Young puppies and kittens from shelters and mills frequently show up with respiratory infections and immune stress. Adding immune support to specific prescription treatment gets them back on track faster. These results are supported by various case studies from researchers at Pet Life Today.

On the more life-threatening end of the spectrum, I see dogs with chronic, debilitating illness like cancer. I have observed that supporting the immune system with Del-Immune V during treatment helps the body fight cancer cells and also provides help with secondary immune problems relating to bacterial and fungal infections.

My best results are dose-related. For general maintenance in puppies and cats, I use half a capsule to a full capsule twice a day. For acute immune issues, smaller animals receive up to four capsules a day. With adult cat and small dogs, I suggest one to two capsules daily for maintenance, and up to six a day for immune support during acute problems. Medium and large dogs can have two capsules a day for maintenance and six to eight capsules a day during acute illness. I give very large dogs two Del-Immune V a day for maintenance, and up to four capsules twice a day during acute illness. Users can reduce doses after about two weeks.

The largest dose I’ve given for immune support was eight capsules a day to a chocolate lab with prostate cancer. In addition to cancer treatment, the dog’s immune system was supported with additional supplements and a grain-free diet. This pup had a high quality of life for more than a year after his diagnosis, in spite of the fact that dogs with this condition would typically live six months or less.

  1. My dog was diagnosed with Lymphoma today. Is there anyway that Del-Immune V along with Chemo and a healthy diet can help him? I have been reading about it and it sounds like it can help. Are there any harmful side effects if I give this along with Chemo and a mushroom complex? Thank you very much for any advice you may offer on this. I really appreciate it. I never thought that my 9 year old boy would have this kind of cancer. Ali

    • Ali,
Thanks so much for your comment, and I am so sorry to hear about your dog’s recent diagnosis!

It is entirely possible Del-Immune V will help your dog, particularly when added to a healthy diet and responsible medical treatment – the veterinarians we work with certainly think so. Del-Immune V will not interact with any other drug or supplement. If it were my dog, I would be adding at least two capsules a day to food, more if needed. Please let us know what your results are!

  2. We have a 10 year old large dog (78 lbs or so) who has been treated surgically at least twice through the years for removal of a lymphoma on his leg. This past year, when the cancer manifested for the second time (surgically removed) we started Red on a number of protocols. They include flax lignans, and a fermented wheat germ freeze-dried extract which has shown efficacy in treating cancer in Europe. We began these protocols, when his cancer had just recently been active (about 6-8 months ago)& then we were told he should also take two del-immune in the morning and two with dinner. Should we lower the dose to one in the morning and one in the evening as he seems somewhat stabilized or leave it like this? Thanks, Stephanie

  3. Coming from the standpoint of a fellow associate within this business, I in fact enjoy your write-up. I have continuously been in in reality like with this production all my life so I have developed a conversation board for market specialists to come together and discuss all things in this business. You gave me some fantastic principles for my own web site.

  4. I just wanted to share how much I love this product for my cat, Raven.
Raven has a multitude of problems including skin issues and muscle
spasms. She constantly pulls out the hair on her back with excessive
    licking.
When I started her on a small daily dose of Del- Immune V her
hair started to grow back full and plush on her back. The hair biting and
pulling lessened tremendously! I was totally AMAZED! Thank you!

  5. Our mood and attitude have a tremendous bearing on the function of our immune system. The bottom line is that when we are happy and optimistic, our immune system functions much better. Conversely, when we are depressed, our immune system tends to be depressed. When a person is under more stress or is depressed, they will need to make a conscious effort to boost their immune system – that includes taking their supplements. It is not only major life stresses that can cause depressed immune function, but the more significant the stressor the greater the impact on the immune system. Negative emotions suppress immune function while positive emotions enhance immune function. In my clinical practice, whenever patients are suffering from low immune function I will ask them who their favorite comedian is and then write a prescription for them to watch a movie or tv show that features that comedian. The bottom line is that if you want to have a healthy immune system, you need to laugh often.

  6. I’ve been a big fan of Del-Imune products for a year now. I started using the throat spray after a recommendation from my doctor. I was getting strep throat infections twice a year and was desperate. Since using the products I have not been sick a single day. My 9 month old Belgian Sheepdog recently became very ill after boarding him while I was away. He developed a nasty upper respiratory infection and the vet placed him on antibiotics but nothing to help with the congestion which was literally hanging from his nose. After the second day of no relief and seeing him absolutely miserable, I came across this blog and decided to try giving him the Del-Imune V. By later that evening I was amazed by the change. He had his energy and his appetite back. By the next day, he seemed himself again and the congestion was almost gone. I have no proof that the antibiotics alone weren’t responsible for his miraculous recovery, but I honestly feel it was the Del-Imune V that really brought him back to life so quickly. Thank you for this article-you gave me my dog back!
